Yoannis Mendez Centeno (Mendez) is 24. After he was kicked out from high school, which is compulsory in Cuba, he decided to live on the streets. After a hold-up he was sentenced to 1 _ years of home arrest. During this time he met Yasel, and decided to give his life a new chance. A radical change followed.
The main theme in Mendez life are women:

When I get up, I take a walk in the park to decide which of my girlfriends to visit, I have so many. Always this one, or the other.
Mendez is playing percussion: Tambores batá, Chéquere, Güiro, Tambores del Monte and Máquina de Ritmo.
